About Lee
Welcome! My name is Lee (he/him). I am a Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychologist (CPsych), licensed by the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (#6658). I obtained my Doctor of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) degree from the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University.
I have the pleasure and privilege of helping adults (age 18+) learn to live more rich and meaningful lives based on the values that matter to them. Being human can be so hard sometimes, and we are constantly faced with the question, “What are you going to do when difficult thoughts and feelings show up?” I help people find answers to this question that make their lives better. I do this first and foremost by building a trusting relationship with my clients, to which I bring my values of warmth, empathy, compassion, curiosity, patience, and respect. From this safe space, I then incorporate my extensive training and experience using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT; a more in-depth article can be found here), a therapeutic approach that can be helpful for a wide variety of mental health concerns and situations, to help people live the lives that matter to them. Please reach out with any questions, and/or to book a free consult to see if we would be a good fit to work together.
I am excited to coordinate on various projects with the amazing Dr. Sheri Turrell, Clinical Psychologist, at Life in Balance Therapy, located in Roncesvalles (Toronto, west end). She does excellent work with adults and teens. Feel free to check out her website for more information!

Services
Psychological Assessment and Diagnosis
Through a clinical interview and completion of questionnaires, I work with clients to better understand the mental health difficulties they are experiencing, along with the related diagnosis(es), as appropriate.
NOTE: I do not offer formal psychoeducational (e.g., learning disability, gifted), autism, or ADHD testing. However, I will happily provide referral options for those interested.
Individual Therapy
I work with clients to establish their goals, an understanding of the barriers to meeting those goals, and a treatment plan for overcoming those barriers. Each plan is unique to the needs of the client. Whether their goals are more exploratory or specific, I have experience helping people with a wide variety of concerns.

FAQs
-
No. While referrals from physicians, allied health professionals, and community agencies are welcome and appreciated, self-referrals are also happily accepted.
Some private insurance providers may require a medical doctor’s referral before providing access to coverage. Please check with your provider for more details.
-
There is a lot to cover in a short period of time!
Confidentiality - so you know what will and will not happen to the information you share.
Basic demographic information: name, age, relationship status, work/school status
Brief description of your presenting concerns/the reasons you reached out to me.
The work that I do, how I may be of help, administrative details (e.g., fees, session length, my availability, session frequency).
Next steps (e.g., scheduling the first session)
-
Each client has his/her/their own time slot that matches the frequency of our work together (e.g., weekly or bi-weekly). No one else will be able to access that time slot unless you had changed the day/time of our session for that week. An exception to this is if we decide to have a more flexible schedule for a variety of reasons (e.g., no regular time slots are available, your work schedule might make a set day/time difficult).
To get the most out of therapy, the expectation is that all clients will attend sessions regularly, and only cancel/reschedule them when absolutely necessary.
-
Yes. Research findings from multiple studies conducted over the years indicates that virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for a wide variety of presenting concerns.
-
There are two virtual therapy options: Zoom or a phone call. If meeting over Zoom, I will email you a link that you can use to access all sessions. Clicking on the link will bring you to the waiting room, so there is no risk of joining a call with another client. If meeting by phone, I would call you at the start time of the session.
-
Unfortunately, no.
In accordance with jurisdiction regulations, I am only allowed to meet with clients who are physically located in the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, or Nova Scotia during the time of the session. There may be exceptions for other jurisdictions (e.g., countries, states) as well. We can discuss these exceptions as they arise.
As for where to attend the session, I recommend finding a private space where no one else can overhear our session.
-
It depends on the specific service.
We use Zoom Pro, which is compliant with Canadian data protection regulations, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), which, among other things, means it meets standards for high levels of security that make our sessions unlikely to be hacked/accessed. We also enabled the end-to-end encryption setting, which makes the possibility of someone else accessing our session/data extremely unlikely.
The phone, unfortunately, is not considered a secure form of communication. However, the chances of someone gaining access to our phone call (assuming cell phones are being used), is very small. As a result, we can reasonably assume that the phone call would be confidential.
-
Unfortunately, OHIP does not cover psychological services. However, most private care plans that include mental health care will cover my services as a Psychologist (Please check with your insurance provider for details, such as yearly allowance/percentage of services covered). Receipts will be provided to clients after payment is received, which can be used to send to your insurance provider.
I also provide services covered by the Non-Insured Health Benefits Program for First Nations and Inuit (NIHB), and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
-
While only providing virtual services, e-transfers are the method of payment currently accepted.
-
The cancellation policy is at least 24-hours notice for any cancellations or rescheduling requests. Otherwise, the full session fee will be charged.
Exceptions to this policy include significant medical illness or emergency. Please note that work-related matters are unlikely to be considered emergencies for the purpose of this policy.
-
The length of time each person is in therapy differs. I have worked with people for one session, while with others it has been years. Change, while seemingly simple, is not easy, especially if the psychological symptoms a person is experiencing are very intense and entrenched (as many can be).
If there are constraints on therapy (e.g., time and/or financial), we will do the best we can with the time we have available. I can never guarantee helping someone fully reach all of their goals, and to their fullest extent, but making significant strides toward them are likely (if the client puts in the work).
-
Psychotherapy is a lot like going to the gym - the more you exercise, the more likely you are to meet your exercise goals. While undergoing therapy, there will be lots of opportunities to "exercise" (e.g., discussing concerns during sessions, practicing therapeutic tools in and outside of sessions). Unfortunately, therapy is not a "magic pill". My clients who have found the most success are the ones who put into practice what we discuss. Is that easy? It may not be, and we will work together to make doing the "exercise" more possible.
